Hajmalang is a well known historical place surrounded by mountainous areas. With the aim of opening a house for HIV affected children, about 8.65 acres of land was purchased by the Province in 2004. The location of the land influenced   Bishop Thomas Elavanal and wished to get a part of the land for constructing a Seminary, Provincial Sr. Ann Joseph agreed to it. In the place of Seminary, the Diocese built in the land an old age home.

 Construction of the building for HIV affected Children (Karunalaya Balika Bhawan) started in full swing. Construction completed under the able supervision of Srs. Jincy and Jophy. On 12th June 2010 the blessing of the house was done by Bp. Thomas Elavanal. The house started with the 7 children they attended local Marathi Medium Schools. At present there are more than 20 children.
